1. Introduction

1.1 - Our School

Milford Christian Academy (also, “MCA” or “school”), a 26 U.S.C. § 501(c)(3) Ohio nonprofit religious corporation, is a ministry of First Baptist Church of Milford (also, “FBCM” or “Church”). As such, MCA is more than just a private school—it is a Christian school with a clear and unwavering purpose. Our mission is to glorify God through Christian education by guiding young people to find and follow Jesus Christ. There is no higher calling, and no pursuit more fulfilling, as it places every other endeavor—academic, relational, and beyond—in its proper, God-honoring place. Our faculty and staff are deeply committed to this sacred responsibility, striving not to conform students to the patterns of this world but to see their minds transformed by God’s grace. Our goal is to equip our students to discern and pursue His perfect plan for their lives.

1.2 - Our History

Milford Christian Academy was established in 1973, but its foundation was birthed in the hearts of the people of First Baptist Church years earlier. In 1961, when First Baptist Church of Milford was still in its infancy—just three years old—an annual church report expressed a bold vision: “Future planning includes provision for a Christian Day School having a trained faculty.” This dream became a reality in 1973 when Pastor Charles Keen led the church to establish Milford Christian Academy. The school opened its doors with 63 students in first through eighth grades.

As MCA grew, so did the need for a dedicated facility. In 1976, the Church voted to construct a 24,000 square-foot building to house the school, which had been meeting in the Church basement. A year later, in 1977, MCA moved to its current location on Woodville Pike. In 1993, FBCM completed the Bauer/Baker addition which expanded the meeting and classroom space of both the Church and the school. In 2025, the Church completed a $3 million renovation of the entire Student Ministry Center.

Since its inception, more than 700 students have graduated from MCA. Some have worked for NASA, others have argued cases before the Supreme Court. Among our alumni are doctors, nurses, missionaries, pastors, leaders, and counselors—faithfully serving the Lord in their vocations across the world.

1.3 - Our Philosophy of Christian Education

Because no school can serve as a substitute for the home, the primary responsibility for Christian education belongs to the home (Deut 6:1–9). Milford Christian Academy exists to encourage and assist families who are committed to helping their children find and follow Jesus Christ. Because we view Christian education as a privilege, MCA does not condone socially, morally, or academically unacceptable behavior. We do expect parents to willingly support MCA’s Administration, faculty, and staff.

Finally, Christian education implies academic excellence. There is no reason to attach “Christ” to what we are endeavoring to do only to settle for mediocre academic practices. Furthermore, Christian education demands a focus on Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ remains the ultimate focus for everything that we do at our Christian school. And we do so because it is only when a person focuses on Jesus that every other area of life falls into its proper place, whether that be academic, social, civil, scientific, relational, or spiritual.

1.4 - Our Mission

We firmly believe that true life is found in Jesus Christ alone. In him, we discover genuine wisdom, knowledge, purpose, and significance. As we pursue obedience, wisdom, humility, and strength in Christ, we grow in our understanding of what it means to live a life that reflects and honors our God who has created all people in his image.

Because of this conviction, we also believe that the most important decision any individual can make is to personally follow Jesus. Therefore, it is our greatest joy and deepest commitment to help people find and follow Jesus Christ.

1.5 - Our Statement of Faith

As a ministry of the First Baptist Church of Milford, our official Statement of Faith will always be consistent with our church. The following statements summarize what we believe, embrace, and teach as the historic, biblical Baptist position.

  • A.
    God.
We believe that God is one God and eternally exists triunally in three distinct persons, each equal in power and attributes: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. We believe that God sovereignly reigns over His kingdom.
  • B.
    The Bible.
We believe in the authority of Scripture. We believe that the Bible is the plenarily and verbally inspired, inerrant, living Word of God. We believe that God has divinely and faithfully preserved His Word for all people today in the Hebrew Masoretic text and the Greek Textus Receptus, from which came the Authorized or King James Bible.
  • C.
    Man.
Every person has been created in God’s image, making every person, regardless of language, nationality, or ethnicity, inherently valuable. We believe that man, because of the Fall, is inherently sinful and dead in sin. We believe that any person through repentance and faith can, by grace, receive eternal salvation, which is freely offered through the substitutionary, atoning death of Christ on the cross. Salvation is not earned or deserved. We believe in the bodily resurrection and ascension of Jesus after his death.
  • D.
    The Church.
We believe in the authority and autonomy of the local church. The primary obligations of the church are assembling together for the purpose of worshiping God, evangelizing the lost, baptizing and discipling of saved persons, caring for the poor, participating in the Lord’s Table, and taking seriously the global responsibility to reproduce more churches—glorifying God through each. The church has two (2) offices (pastor and deacon). The church has one mission: to make disciples who follow Jesus Christ.
  • E.
    Last Things.
We believe in the pretribulational rapture of the church. We believe in the visible, personal, and premillennial return of Jesus Christ to earth. We believe that all people will spend forever in either a real heaven or in a literal hell. For this reason, we believe that the church has an imperative mission to deliver God’s gospel message to all peoples of the world.
